Three days after I met my college roommate, Ellen, we went to a movie together. There was a scene where the man leaned in and whispered something sweet in the woman's ear. Without thinking, I leaned over and whispered the same line to Ellen. She was a bit surprised. I quickly explained. My sister is mostly deaf, and a whispered line filmed without the speaker's lips visible is exactly the moment she misses. Born eleven months apart, I grew up noticing when she missed something. I instinctively fill in the gap for coworkers and clients.
I've been doing some version of teaching my whole life through engineering documentation, financial explanations, and now AI training. I take the scary out of complicated things so people understand them. My goal in every class is that you leave able to use what you learned yourself.
You don't need a technical background to use AI. While I happen to have one, you won't need it. I started my career writing software, with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Twenty-five years ago, I co-founded Sensory Labs, an engineering firm specializing in machine vision. In 2022 I started UpTrack Accounting, an accounting firm. UpTrack AI is my third business. And I'm excited to show you what I do and watch your businesses grow too.
Here is an example. Clients have specific questions about their business finances. When they work with me, they get more than a cash flow report and a profit and loss summary. I use AI to build an interactive dashboard with elements like sliders to change scenarios. In real time, the client can see the effect of adding customers, hiring staff, or getting a loan. What I want to teach you is what I use myself.
